I am proud to endorse Joe Lopez, who served his community with distinction for 35 years as a Sheriff’s Sergeant, excelling in roles such as detective and hostage negotiator. Beyond his law enforcement career, Joe has dedicated tirelessly to his community through nonprofits, the civil grand jury, and numerous other civic activities, always with integrity, compassion, and commitment.
Joe is not a career politician, which is why I must speak out against the dishonest claims from his opponent, falsely suggesting that he is not pro-choice or supportive of marriage equality.
The truth is clear: Joe Lopez is a proud lifelong Democrat, strongly pro-choice, and firmly believes in a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions. He is also a steadfast defender of marriage equality, supporting the right of all couples—gay or straight—to marry. Any claims to the contrary are baseless and false.
Joe’s lifelong commitment to fairness and equality began when he marched alongside Cesar Chavez, working with the United Farm Workers to protect the rights of vulnerable farmworkers. As a former farmworker himself, Joe understands the importance of standing up for the voiceless.
I urge Pamela Campos and her campaign to put an end to these smear tactics. District 2 deserves better, and that’s why I wholeheartedly support Joe Lopez.
